Why is it important to get the Flu Vaccine?
This year it is even more important to be vigilant about protection from influenza due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Vaccinating against influenza will reduce the risk of contracting a double-up of both influenza and COVID-19 – both diseases affecting the respiratory system. Influenza vaccines can change from year to year as new stains of influenza appear. This is one reason vaccination against influenza is given yearly. The 2020 vaccine offers protection against four viral strains of influenza.
Is it safe to get the Flu Vaccine?
We have introduced measures to maximise the safety of patients presenting at the Centre. As such, we have introduced a safe and best practice process through our treatment room with patients maintaining safe distancing whilst waiting for the vaccine to be administered. We have a staff member at the door guiding and directing patients, a Doctor screening patients and a nurse administering the vaccine.
