Jeff Forsyth
AHPRA PSY0001129840
Jeff’s background included experience as a secondary teacher, owner/operator of small business and work in employment & rehabilitation services, before establishing a career as a psychologist. He completed his training and qualifications through the approved practice-based approach, which provided experience in dealing with a wide range of psychosocial presentations.
Jeff works predominantly with older adolescents (15+) and adults and utilises a combination of therapeutic strategies drawn from Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Narrative Therapy and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) in his sessions.
Jeff’s areas of therapy include:
- mood and anxiety disorders
- trauma-based issues (including Victims of Crime, DVA and TAC referrals)
- bereavement, grief and loss
- relationship and interpersonal problems
- addictive behaviours
- pain management
- life stage changes
Jeff began his practice at a specialist psychology clinic in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. For the past four years, he has been providing a clinic and outreach-based service from the Orbost hospital, in Victoria’s far East Gippsland region. This program assisted people in remote areas, struggling with long-term and often severe levels of personal and psychological difficulty.
Jeff is keen to continue his work as a member of the community-focused practice at Goodwin Drive on Bribie Island. As someone who has grown up with a love of fishing and water sports, he is definitely looking forward to living and working where the weather and the water are ‘far more inviting’.
